Produttori Associati Company is in Nubia, a hamlet - with many crops and wonderful saltworks - reachable from Trapani by following the coastal road going to Marsala and through Paceco. The ground where the producers carry out their activity is principally clayey and level.
Garlic grows both in cool and warm climates. In warmer climates, a garlic bush is in fall.
This allows the realization of all biological cycle: the garlic ripening and the bulbs production in spring (little brightness) when the days draw out.
In winter and spring the ground takes light late and moderately.
Garlic likes better well drained soils especially if rich in organic matter.
So clayey soils are more suitable than others for the crop of this product and for granting its high quality.
A good crop is possible when the garlic is on a raised bed with good organic compound, 8-12 inches soil - whose PH is between 6.0 and 7.0 -, moderate amount of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium.
Garlic does not need to be watered unless the ground is extremely dry. In dry climates, irrigation may be necessary. Over-watering your garlic will encourage rot and diseases.
Garlic is ready when two or three leaves have yellowed.
Before this time, the garlic may send out a flowering shoot that should be clipped or folded over.
Clipping the flower allows the plant to put its energy into the garlic clove and not into developing seeds.
